Description
Kate is a warm and empathic therapist. She was born in the UK and raised in Africa and Hong Kong where she lived until she moved to Edinburgh in May.
She specialises in supporting people with anxiety, stress and trauma. Alongside person-centered counselling skills, she uses EMDR to help clients process traumatic memories and reduce distress. Where useful, she integrates somatic work – chiefly Tension / Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE) – and tailors treatment to individual needs.
Kate’s non-judgmental approach helps create a safe space for clients to explore their experiences. She is passionate about helping people not only to feel better after a therapy session, but also to have insights, techniques, and support to feel better in the long term.
Kate’s first career was as a journalist. After completing her Masters in Counselling, she set up in a private practice at a respected medical clinic in Hong Kong and wrote about mental health for the South China Morning Post. She twice won the MIND Media Award (2020, 2021) and in 2024 published a book on the psychological impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on mental health, Pandemic Minds.
