Description

Sitara is a dedicated child counsellor who specialises in supporting children and families through emotional, behavioural, and developmental challenges. She has worked as a school counsellor in international schools in Hong Kong and Singapore, where she supported students’ emotional well-being and collaborated closely with parents, educators, and multidisciplinary teams. She has also worked as a school behaviour practitioner, helping children with diverse abilities and supporting schools to implement inclusive, strengths-based approaches to learning and behaviour.

Together, these roles have shaped her whole-system perspective and deepened her understanding of the complex demands children face in both home and school environments.

Sitara supports a wide range of needs, including anxiety, neurodivergence (such as ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder), attachment, emotion regulation, anger, and complex trauma. She tailors therapy to the unique needs of each child and family system and has experience working with children of varied abilities.

Her therapeutic approach is holistic, personalised, developmentally appropriate, and play-based. She works with empathy, curiosity and care, drawing from Schema Therapy for Children and Adolescents and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), including specialised training in parent-child attachment EMDR. She also incorporates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Sandplay, and Symbol Work into her practice.

Sitara is a registered Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator and offers attachment-based parenting support through this internationally recognised program.

She is the co-author of Emotional Needs, a children’s picture book rooted in Schema Therapy principles, and is passionate about using story as a therapeutic metaphor to support emotional insight and growth.
